No Impact Girl has moved to Substack!

Let me start this short post with a BIG thank you for supporting for my writing here over the years. I really appreciate you tuning in, subscribing and reading.

No Impact Girl started as a very tentative blog back in 2011 while I was doing a "no impact" lifestyle project for a magazine article. I didn't think I'd have time to keep up a regular blog when I was often struggling to keep up with my paid writing as a full-time travel writer.

But writing this blog turned out to be liberating. I loved the freedom of writing what I wanted to want to write, about things that interested me, without having to get the approval of editors and publishers.

The only downside, of course, was that my blog didn't generate any income and I resisted adding ads and affiliate links. I didn't want the hassle, I suppose, and I didn't want the site to become cluttered and unreadable.

But a couple of months ago I knew it was time for a change.

My blog output had dwindled considerably since 2020 when Covid stopped me travelling and I began designing and building my own tiny house, then working on a book about the build: Tiny was published by Hardie Grant last year. I've also recently switched from travel writing to features writing, in pursuit of a slower, simpler life.

And a couple of months ago I started writing on Substack. This is where you can now find me, on my new No Impact Girl Substack site. All my posts will be free for the forseeable future, but I'm offering paid subscriptions to those who'd like to support my writing financially.

So I hope to see you there! Thanks again for reading.

Love, Louise

PS I'll keep this blog up for a while, to redirect readers to No Impact Girl on Substack.
